Ireland.

We leave for Ireland on August 7th. About 3 weeks after our wedding day. ;)

And I think we finally have our trip planned!

The first night we're there we'll stay in Dublin. Sean's really excited to go to the Guinness Storehouse... I don't know if I'm too excited about that haha but we'll see!

The second day we start our driving adventure to Galway. On the map it looks to be straight across from Dublin and google maps claims it's about 2.5 hours. We shall see ;)

We're staying in this B&B:

We're spending 2 nights here with hopes that we'll have time to take the ferry to the Aran Islands and do some other stuff like see the Cliffs of Moher. I don't know too much about Galway... but I love this song:

;)

Next we'll drive north and pass through Westport (where we'll buy our wedding rings!) and sleep in Donegal:

I want to see the Cliffs of Slieve Sleeve. It looks really pretty in pictures.

Next we'll drive to Belfast:

The final night we're still figuring out. We want to stay in a castle ;)

I still have a lot to read about our trip... but basically I'm excited for castles, and driving on the LEFT side of the road, and eating breakfast every morning, and taking pictures, and getting my passport stamped, and oh yeah -- being on our honeymoon in Ireland.

;) yay!

  5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that you guys are coming to Ireland for your honeymoon, but I'm sulking that you won't be coming south to Cork! Ha ha, only joking :) but it is the best part of the country, and I'm not biased at all, but it is the best part because it has me in it! ;-)

I also love the fact that you are getting your wedding rings here, I think that is so awesome & romantic.

I would recommend that when you are over the Galway side of the country and heading towards the cliffs of Moher, to drive through Kilkee and along the cliffs that way, there are AMAZING views & cliffs. I've never actually gotten to the cliffs at Moher yet, but the cliffs around Kilkee are so amazing. Another spot if you're near Kilkee would be a village called Doonbeg, my brother & sister-in-law run a b&b in the village, so I've been there a few times and it's a pretty little country village. It'd be a good spot to get some lunch!

Last but not least, the Galway Girl is one of my favourite songs (thanks to the film PS I Love You!) and I really hope that you get to hear it sung live in an Irish pub while you're over here!

And if you guys have any questions, or I have lots of pictures of the cliffs around Kilkee if you would like an idea of them, I can email them on to you if you like!

    Marie :)

  8. Ooo, that sounds like fun! I wish I had spent more time in Ireland when I was there. Good move on staying in the countryside for most of it, that was definitely what I liked best.

If you have time while you're in Dublin, the Trinity College library was pretty cool. Very old and beautiful books.
