Hello blog, I'm still here.

I forgot that I blog. Whoops, and after I bought a domain name and all; which by the way I haven't yet had the time to figure out how to do the blog-switch-a-roo thing. But one day, I'll sit down and figure it all out. Today is not that day. In an effort to play a little catch up as not to forget that this week existed, here's what went on: my classroom is all set up, my work gave me a new laptop, I bought a printer so that I could become an extreme couponer, we bought Sean a new suit and with sales & coupons ended up saving over $380 on it, we watched our friends get married, we walked around Providence, Rhode Island and ate at Luxe Burger, i invent had their second show and I finally found a drink that doesn't disgust me, I went into work early every day, got out of work late every day, didn't watch any TV other than episodes of How I Met Your Mother on DVR for over 6 days, went to my very first, ever, book club meeting, made dinner every night, started a work-out/lose weight challenge with Sean, was so upset when I realized I was days late to join in on what I thought would be my first ever fantasy football draft, was even more upset when I realized the only football shirt I have is for someone who is now accused of murder, and learned it is possible to restart my iPhone even though the power button has been broken for 4 months.  Successful week, eh?

This upcoming week is my 27th birthday, my zumba class begins, I'm going to solidify some fall goals, and start reading my first book for my new book club. The book is A Casual Vacancy. Plus, I have to take a peak at all those new shows I've promised myself I'll watch -- I don't think many start so soon, but I don't want to miss out. We'll see how the blogging thing goes --if I can get my act together you'll see me around these parts, and if not, then talk to you next weekend :)

Sunday morning chit-chat.

If we were having a Sunday morning chit-chat session over a cup of coffee, you'd probably notice that I wasn't drinking coffee since I don't like it. I'd probably be having some type of drink like water or lemonade or Sprite but really I'd be wishing that I could open a can of Coke and it wouldn't be looked down upon at 8AM.

If we were having a Sunday morning chit-chat session, I'd probably tell you about how Artemis is now sleeping in bed with us and has come a long way in these 12 days since we've adopted her from the shelter.

If we were having a Sunday morning chit-chat session, I'd probably complain about how our bedroom looks like a tornado came through, how we had to clear out our closets, how we had to bag all the wet clothes, how we can't really do anything about it other than load it up with dollar store paper towels and how we're probably getting mold poisoning while we sleep.

If we were having a Sunday morning chit-chat session, I'd probably tell you how relieved I am that the leak, is really just annoying and a slight hassle, but that it doesn't cost us any money to fix, and how the washing machine being broken really cleared up my to-do list for the day. So... I don't totally mind it.

Weekly Recap & Valentine's Day.

On the blog:

It's the middle of February, otherwise known, as President's Day weekend,
or more importantly... a long weekend.
Yay!
I'm so happy that my immune system failed me on the Friday before this 4-day long weekend.
Thanks.
Sean thinks it's funny to see me, in bed, with 2 boxes of tissues (back-up for when the first runs out), my laptop, my tablet, a bottle of water, glass of soda, cell phone, Apollo, glasses, etc., etc., etc.
Basically I don't need to move for a couple of hours.
And that's my plan.

How was this week?
It was great!
Minus a visit to the dentist, who I blame for my current bill of health, as well as my low bank account.
We also had more snow this week.
Which caused me to sleep at my parent's house (to avoid any driving mishaps),
but I got to sleep with two dachshunds.
We went to the movies and saw Identity Thief. Hilarious. Go see it.

AND because we spent so much money at Regal, they gave us free movie tickets that I'm pretty confident we'll use this weekend as long as I can keep my eyes open.
I'd like to see this:

My other half doesn't agree.

Valentine's Day was fantastic, complete with tasty Italian food at a restaurant with a screaming hostess and a stressed out waitress (super romantic, let me tell ya), and great gifts.
It's the thought that counts, but it's super when the gifts are nice, too!
Once I have enough energy to take pictures, I'll blog about the gifts.
Oh, and the AMAZING card Sean made me.

It's amazing.

October?

It's definitely fall. :) This means Uggs, scarves, a full DVR, and changing leaves!

I've come to the realization, mostly with the help of some family members, that I have not updated this blog for nearly a month. This is not because I don't have anything to share... I'm not boring -- it's because I'm trying not to use the computer so much when Sean's home. There's that level of awkwardness and danger when two people are in the same room and can't talk to one another because they are attached to a device. You know? Of course, you know. However, he's asleep right now... :)

So here goes:

I spent a girls weekend in the Cape. It was beautiful weather with just a little bit of rain. I brought rain gear so I was prepared. The house was great, plenty of space for everyone to be together as well as have space to themselves. I only saw one pincher bug, and one daddy longleg spider. So I'd call that pretty successful since we were on the Cape. We shopped, ate, and hung out with each other and it was a great weekend. OH, and I also  FINALLY met this little guy.

Sean and I watched his parents house for almost a week. This was a pretty strange experience. I have no idea how all you people with dogs get any sleep when the dogs sleep in bed with you! They definitely rule the bed and only allot you so much space no matter their size. Too funny! We, of course, brought Apollo who was a little apprehensive at the beginning of the trip. By the end of the 6 days, she was bossing around the other animals and found her comfortable spot in bed along side the two dogs.

Sean and I were happy to be home but Apollo, specifically, was thrilled to be back in her element. :)

Last weekend, we visited Salem and got into the spooky Halloween spirit. While Salem is entertaining there's a part of me that just finds the whole idea of the witch trials and the town so sad.

Keeping with the Halloween spirit, I bought Apollo her very first tee/costume. It says "trick or treat". I wouldn't say she loves it. But I love her in it and she will definitely wear it on Halloween!

I've been really busy with work, as has Sean, but we've been trying to cook at home as much as possible. Our goal to go grocery shopping each week has kind of failed this past week but before that we were cooking up a storm! Because of this, we (I) thought it would be a FANTASTIC idea to host Thanksgiving this year. :) So our time together has been consumed with making sure we have all the platters, and plates, and silverware, and decorations, and tools to cook and serve a Thanksgiving meal. We've been staring at Corningware sets at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Target, and trying to complete our wedding china... we're still missing two sets of flatware. So sad.

We're also working to get our new china cabinet/chest to our house. It's my grandmother's and after a little bit of a prepared speech I convinced her that it would much rather be showcasing our china than sitting in her basement all alone. :) With lots of help, it's refinished and painted... but still remains huge and impossible to transport to our house. So the search for a large vehicle that doesn't require payment per mile driven is preferable.

In my spare time, I'm still going to Zumba once a week AND I've started Country Line Dancing classes. I know a total of 8 dances so far. It's intense and actually more exhausting than Zumba. I imagine this is because at Zumba I cannot keep up with the teacher and just kind of do my own thing... thus probably not getting as much exercise out of it.

On top of this, I'm obsessed with the presidential race, the release of T. Swift's new album, and the opening of Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, part 2. I know that one of those is more important than the others but at least I listed it first. :)

Happy Weekend!

9.14.2012

Woah, what happened to summer?

We've had some major changes in our little family in the past month. Yes, I'm aware it's been a month since the last time I blogged and I have to admit I didn't really think about it...

But I'll try to be back as much as possible though I'm sure you know life sometimes gets in the way.

Let's see:

I'll start with myself: I started my 4th year of teaching. It's busy and draining (in the most positive way, of course) and by the time I get home each night all I want to do is sit still. Literally, I don't even want to move my fingers to type.

I also turned another year older. And celebrated by going to my very first Zumba class. It's intense, guys. Seriously.

As for the husband: Sean had surgery and was out of commission for way too long. He's doing much better now and I learned that I'm actually a pretty good nurse... who knew?

He also left his band which is a major change to our schedule, our social situations... and well, our way of life. But I know it just means a new door will open somewhere else.

As for the pet: Apollo spent her very first weekend away at a kitty condo. She had a blast in her window view condo and even made some friends. Well not really, she's pretty anti-social...

She also had a mini-birthday and turned 6 months old!

As for general life: we've been going to Ikea a lot (we bought a bed, nightstands, and a futon for our second bedroom), we've successfully paid off one whole credit card, we spent a weekend with family in Maine, I attended a wedding in New Hampshire, we've been with family and friends and each other and we've been planning all the wonderful things we'd like to do during Fall! We have a big list!

It's mid-week.

Happy Wednesday!

This past weekend, I was feeling pretty good about myself because I got so many things done (mainly, I watched and emptied my entire DVR). Well, it's pretty amazing how quickly my shows collect on that thing because I already have about 10 that need to be watched and it's only Wednesday.

On Mondays and Wednesdays, Sean's band has practice and today we found out that the place where his band practices (and spends a good amount of time at each week) has been under surveillance by the FBI SINCE MARCH because "allegedly" a person that also spends a good deal of time in this same building was using his space to build planes and store guns and C4 to attack the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol building. Uhm, what? you ask. Exactly. Sean was interviewed and on the news.

Shutterfly was being so difficult last night and was taking so long to upload pictures. I tried for an hour and eventually gave up.

And finally... I decided to participate in "what's in my bag"... so here we go :)

Criminal Minds is on in 10 minutes :)
