Apollo and Halloween.

I put Apollo's t-shirt on her on Halloween night. And posed her with our Halloween candy that we didn't need to buy since we didn't get any trick-or-treaters. Once she slithered her way out of the cutest little outfit ever... she got up there....

And didn't come down til bedtime.

Just wait until I break out the Santa hats. She has no idea what a lifetime of excitement she has ahead of her.

Since when...

Okay, maybe I'm a little new at this whole "passing out candy on Halloween" thing... but why is Halloween candy so expensive and when did that happen?

We were at the store the other day and thought "let's be proactive and grab some Halloween candy".

First problem: why is there always one candy in the multi-pack that you don't like? For instance: kit-kats, reese's peanut butter cups, milky ways and almond joys. Almond joys? That won't do because on November 1st I'll be stuck with all those almond joys -- that I'm allergic to.

Second problem: why are 30 pieces of candy $9.50? That seems a little absurd? No?

So basically after loudly proclaiming how ludicrous the cost of candy is, and being very close to that line of "you know, when I was little candy was only..." I left the store, without any candy.

And now I have nothing for the trick-or-treaters tomorrow.

Hm.

Marriage Monday: Date Nights.

Sean and I had a date night this past weekend. We went to the jack o' lantern spectacular festival at the Roger Williams Zoo in Providence. It was so much fun and the jack o' lanterns were very impressive. It was also really great to be at the zoo at night... occasionally you could hear the animals but it was a little scary not being able to SEE them.

Basically, the festival included thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands, of pumpkins that people had carved. They fall into a theme by continent and they also have some carved of famous people. Very cool!

I highly recommend going. It's a fun night. We heard about it through friends and didn't really know what to expect but we've decided to make it a tradition! Next year, we've already agreed that we'll buy hot chocolates to keep our hands warm!

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!

This has been the strangest Halloween in some time. The snow over the weekend has prevented lots of kids from trick-or-treating (so sad!) and because of the power outages lots of schools (including mine!) got the day off (our first official snow day of the season). Luckily, we didn't lose power this time around... I can't really imagine being without heat.

Sean is at band practice so I spent the night giving out candy with these two:

We don't have any pictures from today but here are some over the past few Halloweens! :)

2007... Zombie Prom dates.

2008... the joker & a witch.
2009... a mouse & a zombie.

2010... No costumes since we spent the weekend in D.C.
This year (and last year) we didn't dress up! No parties or anything. But that's okay! Maybe next year! Instead we spent the snowy weekend in bed eating candy & watching scary movies. It was perfect.
