York, Maine.

Javi and I traveled to Maine with one of my aunts to visit one of my aunts who lives there! It was a much better trip than the last time we went to Maine and Javi was obsessed with both the pool and the ocean! We couldn't get him to calm down about it and he was a complete maniac! He's definitely a pool-runner and we have to work on that!

Even though I'm not totally a fan of the water (actually I'm really afraid it) I'm really glad to have a son that loves it. I mean... LOVES it.

A trip to Maine.

We got engaged at Pemaquid Lighthouse in Maine and it's been a special place to us since. Sean's family has a house near there and we try to get away at least a few times a year. We haven't taken Javi there since he was just 3 weeks old (!) and we thought it would be such a fun family getaway... boy were we wrong! Javi was in a good mood on the way up (it's about a 4 hour drive) and he slept a good amount and entertained himself with snacks and netflix the rest of the way -- and was even amazing during dinner the first night! Even other diners were like "wow! how old is he??" and "he's spectacular" and "he's just so happy!" but then clearly all those compliments went to his head (or mine?!) and Saturday and Sunday he was in the worst mood! He discovered "no!" and "mine!" and just really threw us off our fun-family-getaway track. Sean's a lot better than me at just going with the flow and making the best of it but I (I guess like Javi, ha!) just can't do it. It's fair to say that we have to have a do-over because I came home from the vacation thinking "god, I need a vacation!" -- we did manage to get some good pictures though and in only a few can you tell how unhappy he truly was.

Oh - he's still in the "no!" and "mine!" phase and if you have any tips -- send them my way.

Weekend in Maine.

Last weekend we went to Maine with Sean's parents. The ride takes 3.5 hours and since we went after work on Friday we didn't get there until 9:30. We woke up in time to drive to the lighthouse and watch the sunrise. I, clearly, wasn't thinking straight at 6:15 AM when we were leaving the house and I forgot my scarf, gloves, hat, extra layers -- and it was so cold. Apparently, Sean was still under the impression it was warm outside since he wore shorts. While we were standing on the rocks watching the sunrise, the moon was still out behind us. This is also the location Sean proposed to me -- so it's sort of special all around. Later in the day we drove south to Portland, Maine to shop, have lunch and visit the Shipyard brewery. On Sunday, we had a relaxing day and walked around the small town where the house is and saw "pumpkin fest". They close the house up for the winter and I can't wait to go back in the warm weather.

Maine.

My iPhone software update currently says it'll take 6 hours to finish.

While I wait I'll tell you about our trip to Maine last month.

We took Apollo because my heart broke at the thought of leaving her behind.

She loved the ride. She was a very good backseat driver and after about 5 minutes of keeping watch, she curled up and fell asleep for the rest of the ride.

It took hours... I think 4 to be exact.

The trip was filled with nature, outdoor games, indoor board games, cooking, drinking, eating, shopping, walking, beading, talking, laughing, and the coastline.

We also took a boat ride around the lighthouse where we got engaged. :)

It was a beautiful weekend other than a little rain on Saturday.
It also marked my last weekend of summer break before I went back to work.

I'd love a weekend away now :)

Meanwhile my iPhone update still says 6 hours.
Hmm.

Traveling for Easter

Thank you all so much for all the sweet comments about my diy projects! It's so nice!!

The blog is going to be a little slow this weekend since we're leaving tomorrow for:

MAINE!

You may remember, this lighthouse is the place where this happened:

=)

Even though, I'll be away from the internet (blogging, the knot, wedding wire, wedding bee, martha, brides, google) I won't be totally detached from wedding planning. I have something up my sleeve for this weekend and I can't wait to blog about it when we return!

Happy Easter!
