Professional Pictures!

While we were away on our honeymoon (!) our professional pictures arrived! I was obviously so excited about them and they're perfect and exactly what I imagined. So I really want to post some - not all - there are 1,600 of them. Here are some shots from when we arrived at the venue. :)

We arrived with our hair and makeup done so all we had to do was get dressed!

Our pictures were taken by Damien Gaudet.

More tomorrow :)

One month anniversary

We've been married for one month today! :)

So, I thought I'd show some pictures from the last four weeks to celebrate.

Wedding day.

1 week.

2 weeks.

3 weeks.

4 weeks.

I can't believe it's already been one month. It goes by so quickly!

We're home!

We're home from our honeymoon in Ireland! :) It was fantastic and busy and so much fun.

I'm working on recaps now. :)

Also, we came home to our wedding pictures :) :) :)

I can't even explain how exciting that was and how amazing they are or how much I'm in love with them! They are above and beyond what I expected and they're perfect! I'll certainly be incorporating them into some posts in the near future -- as well as some more wedding recaps!

I'm way behind on my google reader. It's overwhelming and I have thousands of posts to read! I'll catch up though, I promise!

Until tomorrow... :)

2 things...

First: I wanted to share this photo because it's a great picture of my MOH's and a perfect shot of the pearl necklace that I gave to all the girls. Maybe you remember, that the gifts were already wrapped when I realized I didn't take a picture of them!

Secondly: I wanted to share a picture of Sean and I. I can assume (because of where the picture is located on the disk) that it's taken toward the end of the night, during the last song which was:

If nothing else, I ALWAYS knew the last song of the night absolutely HAD to be this song. And it was a great way to end the reception!

Bathroom Basket

I think the idea of a bathroom basket is adorable. I wasn't sure if I'd have the time to put it together... or if it'd make the list of "the most important things to do"... but it got done -- thanks to my mom :)

I would love to say that I wrote the poem (at least), but that would be a lie. I found it on weddingbee.

I did pick out the font... :)

Response from the White House

I won't lie: I voted for Obama & I'm happy about it.

So, when Laura from Saying I do mentioned she sent a wedding invite to the president and that his office sent something back... I knew I wanted to do that, too!

When it arrived, we had extra black frames...

So, in it went!

And, it was displayed right in the middle of the table:

you can kind of see it, right? haha

But you know what? Even people who openly brag about not voting for Obama -- thought it was pretty cool that we had it. :)

Wedding Signs

So, I made Mr. & Mrs. signs as well as Thank & You signs. And while the signs above photograph really well -- up, close and personal they legit look like a 5-year old painted them. For real. I promise. My idea was to be able to take pictures holding them and I had to tell our photographer NOT to zoom in on these babies with his spiffy camera. He laughed.

And I have pictures of this project, but can't find them amongst the thousands of pictures on my flash drive. Oops.

Basically, I got wooden plaques and painted them white. Next, I found a font online and figured out the size I wanted the letters to be. Then I printed the words, cut them out (this took an extremely long time because the letters were so curvy) and then I traced the letters onto the plaque... and then painted them in.

But then, for the Thank & You signs, I skipped steps -- trimmed down the paper and mod podged the entire paper on the plaque. And you know what?

You couldn't even tell!

Parent Dances

Yesterday I showed you a glimpse of my dad and I dancing at my parent's wedding in 2006.

Well, we danced together again at my wedding:

and we danced to this:

Right after that song ended we asked that the DJ invite Sean and his mom onto the dance floor with my dad and I:

and the four of us dance to this:

I know it's not traditional to have both parents dance at the same time but I felt really strongly about it. I don't even know why. But the DJ loved the idea when we brought it up to him and I enjoyed those extra few minutes with my dad :)

Slowly, the song faded out and my dad and I left the dance floor:

so that Sean could dance with his mom to this:

The shuttle.

We're going to back up a little bit because:

my mom and me

My MOH posted these pictures from our shuttle ride between the hotel and the venue. I'm so happy about this because I didn't think we had any at all :)

Favors

We rented a photo booth from Shutter Booth Boston for our reception and it was a hit. Everyone enjoyed it and it was so much fun!

At each place setting, we had these frames and inserts thanking our guests and reminding them to use the photo booth as much as they'd like throughout the night!

Once they took their pictures, 2 strips of the photos printed out -- one for us, to be put in a scrapbook along with a message from the people in the photo -- and, one for them, to be put inside their frame and take home as a favor!

They are such a great idea! I know people said photo booths are "too popular" and "every wedding has one" but honestly, our guests weren't at every other wedding! And everyone said how much they enjoyed it and thought the idea was "unique"!

...with all my bridesmaids :)

Tables.

After guests found their escort card telling them which table number they were sitting at they walked into the ballroom to find their table. On the table we had both the wooden plaque on an easel stand and a black frame with the same picture of us holding the plaque (except in a 4x6 frame) -- hopefully no one was confused!

Here are the frames:

Originally, they were all light wood (from Michaels, $1 each) and I spray painted them black. Then I covered them in mod podge and dipped (completely covering) them in black sparkles. After the sparkles kept falling off so I sprayed them with a sealant covering to keep the sparkles on.

This isn't the best angle of the sparkly frame (hopefully the professional pictures will capture it differently) but you get the idea? :)

Here's another one:

Escort Cards

A while back, I told you all about our table numbers:

And how we took pictures with them in Maine (where we got engaged!):

And I told you about these rubber stamps from Paper Source (because our venue told us it was a good idea to remind guests of their food choice):

And I also bought a "You are seated at" stamp and numbers (well, quite honestly -- my mom bought them)...

But this is how "we" put them together. And I say "we" because my mom actually did this for me. It was overwhelming haha.

So here we go!

These are the insides of the escort cards. They are tent cards... so the top part says "You are seated at" with the correct number and in the picture on the bottom we're holding the table number that corresponds with where they're sitting! (I printed wallet-sized photos).

Here are the opposite sides of the tent cards, so what you see is the front of the card (on top but upside down) which says the guest's name and the bottom of the card with the stamp of their (plus their date's) preferred food choice(s)!

And here are some pictures of the cards all set up during cocktail hour.

Wedding Cake

I really loved our wedding cake. It kind of speaks for itself but each layer was a different flavor: strawberry grand marnier, chocolate with Oreo cookie mousse, red velvet, and chocolate with chocolate mousse.

We chose basic roses (mainly because of the cost...) but it really was gorgeous!

Our cake forks are the "Mr. & Mrs." forks I got as a gift at my shower! They are from Etsy.

We never bought a cake knife & server -- we just used the venue's.

We asked that the entire cake be cut up and displayed so that guests could have their choice of which flavor they wanted rather than be passed out from the kitchen. So, the DJ made an announcement letting everyone know where it was -- but we still had SO MUCH left over. Boxes & boxes!

We did freeze the topper and I guess we'll see how it tastes in a year! :)

P.S. - We leave for our Honeymoon on Sunday!

Our entrance.

We entered our reception to the Lion King's theme song :) and we were wearing the sunglasses we gave our wedding party as part of their gifts:

After I passed my flowers along, we began our first dance:

The song was "I love you because" by Johnny Cash:

And you know what? Remember those dance classes we spent our time and money on?? Well, we didn't use the lessons at all. But it's okay because we had fun and don't regret the time or money spent. But we decided right before our entrance that we would just move around and do a couple twirls -- and it worked out just perfectly. Honestly... my dress was too fluffy to dance like we practiced in class. We didn't really take that into consideration. So if you're taking classes make sure you think about "your look".

After our dance we went right to our sweet heart table -- notice our LOVE banner?

I think my favorite part of our table besides the love banner was that we used our toasting flutes from our wedding china! I loved seeing it on the table!

:)
